It's a new week, again.
Check in with yourself. How are you feeling - physically and mentally? Where do you feel tension/pain in your body? What thoughts are cluttering your mind? What's your bliss? Take a few deep breaths.
We are always so busy and distracted that we often forget to check in with how we are feeling. We are constantly going with the motions and we forget to nourish our bodies. We forget to listen. We are always doing what is expected of us, instead of doing what we desire.
And these bliss balls are amaze-balls. I probably could have eaten all of them in one sitting because I find them THAT good. My body didn't want them all though and that was a blessing in disguise because now I have some for the week.
But let's talk about dates. I used to hate dates. But they are actually so delicious. Also, they make a great base for various vegan desserts and snacks.
Dates are wonderful for digestion. And I need that right now. My body hasn't been functioning to its best ability for a couple of weeks. Dates help stimulate the growth of healthy bacteria in the digestive tract and get rid of yeast, mould, and parasites. They also contain soluble and insoluble fibre, along with amino acids that help with the digestion of food. Dates help with the efficiency of digestion because more nutrients will be absorbed by the digestive tract.
Dates are also great for healthy bones. They contain selenium, manganese, copper, and magnesium, which all work together for strong and healthy bones. They're great to eat for those who are getting older.
Need an energy boost? Dates are your answer. They are high in natural sugars that give your body an immediate burst of energy. They are also great for those who have anemia caused by low iron, as they are very high in iron. They increase energy and strength, but decrease feelings of sluggishness and fatigue. The high level of potassium helps refuel the brain and muscles. I usually get super tired mid-afternoon and usually opt for a nap, but today I chose these delicious balls.
According to Medical Medium in his book, "Life Changing Foods", dates are great for those with diabetes because they deliver vital glucose to the liver. They also contain many anti-cancerous properties, so they are great for prevention of disease.
Medical Medium also discusses the emotional support of dates. They put up a shield around you to protect you from others. While sleeping, they help release stored up emotions - woo! Lastly, they strengthen your sense of purpose so you can shine true and bright.
Stay sweet, my loves.
RECIPE: MAPLE CINNAMON SUGAR BLISS BALLS

INGREDIENTS:
- 1 1/4 cup dates (pitted)
- 1 cup gluten free oats
- 3 tbsps organic maple syrup*
- 2 tbsps cinnamon
- 1 tbsp coconut sugar (optional)
DIRECTIONS:
1. In a food processor, process gluten free oats.
2. Add in dates and maple syrup, then process again. It should be a sticky consistency where you can form the mixture into balls. Add more dates if the oats are taking over.
3. Add in maple syrup and 1 tbsp of cinnamon.
4. Roll into 1-inch balls. In a separate bowl, combine 1 tbsp cinnamon and coconut sugar. Roll the balls into this mixture to coat them (I dipped in only the top because the cinnamon/sugar was too strong for me).
Notes: *make sure there are no added sugars or preservatives in the maple syrup
